Global Warning: Making a Difference |
| To start this I will go straight to China to make one
thing very clear to those who believe everything they hear from our
politicians and the media. We are lead to believe that China is a major
contributor to the fraudulent position we are being sold. China will not
join with the rest of the world to stop the catastrophe that is ahead of us. If the people of China were using power at the rate of the Western countries then it would be impossible to survive in China. The air would be so thick that it would be impossible to breath. It is time for all of us to do what is necessary to stop this problem and stop blaming everyone else. If any western country was even coming close to the massive effort that China is embarking on then things would change very quickly. As is always the case with China they go about their work quietly without constantly trying to prove that they are the biggest and best at everything they do. All across the western world we have people talking, planning for the future and telling everyone else what they should be doing. To date that is all we are doing. We argue wether we should start in 2010, 2012, 2015 or if we should set targets for 2050. In the end we do nothing. Even when a project is endorsed and plans are made every two bit environmentalist or greenie protests and nothing gets done. China is not waiting or following in the footsteps of our stupid efforts. They are actually doing something. We are the ones who urgently need to look toward China to see what we can do in our own backyards. Chinas efforts do not start with some grandiose scheme such as clean coal or carbon sequestration. They have started from the very ground in the backyards of each and every citizen in China. While we whinge and complain about what the government and everyone else isn't doing in China they are starting with their own population and teaching each and every family how to become totally energy independent. If you think that the type of effort that the citizens of China are committing to their future is even remotely possible in any western country you are fooling yourself. I will say again to stop blaming China and everyone else as it is time for you and me to do what is required. |
| Another small complaint that I need to get off my chest then I will continue the main part of this article. |
| As I have said a constant problem in Australia and other
western countries when it comes to getting anything done are the
conservationists, the greenies and the ones who are against anything in
their backyard. For those who insist on driving an SUV instead of an economical 4 cylinder car around town or have their houses fully air conditioned or are so proud of their plasma TV or prefer to use an electric clothes dryer instead of a clothes line and any number of the other power hungry appliances then calling yourself a conservationist or greenie or anything else is a joke. The power that you use on these power hungry luxuries has to come from somewhere. The more power you use the more you contribute to global problems. Only a fool with their head buried in the sand would be stupid enough to think otherwise. We all know the old saying "Don't do as I do, do as I say". The media creates headlines to sell newspapers or to attract viewers. A couple of greenies chained to a tree is a better news story than a million people who agree with a new road being built. It does not matter that the two greenies will eventually use the new road. The one million people who agree with the road will never be heard. It only matters if the story of the two greenies is more important to the media than the needs of the million motorists. Do we join some of the 3rd world countries and sit back while thousands die of starvation and thirst while a small minority live in luxury or do we continue to expand our infrastructure. Personally I would prefer to see a tree cut down in preference to seeing a person dead. Then of course you may be one of those who believe that the world would be a better place if we eliminated a couple of billion people as a positive way to solve the climate change problem. With the ever expanding population on this finite planet we can no longer have both unless each and every person does their part in reducing the mountains of waste generated in the affluent societies. |
